Music Creation Software?

Does anyone know of any decent (but easy to use as I'm a simpleton) software that lets you create your own music and save as .mp3? Preferably something with a music keyboard-style input and the option of adding/changing different instruments? Maybe one that lets you add some samples but definately nothing like those pcdj thingamibobs that are sample only..

reason is fantastic, but its not like its a piece of piss, if you wanna create somethin half decent then your gonna have to put some effort into it

Cheers, Ive just had a wee look for that.. looks like Im off to get a midi adapter as well, so it should do the trick.

if u need any encouragement about Reason, the prodigy used it extensivly when they were making their last album, i read that 90% of it was done in the program alone. A friend of mine has also made a full album with it and is trying to get it released
