Can any software read voice recognition from sound files like mp3's and if so which is best?

I use dragon naturally speaking 8 which can convert an audio file to text; however if i remember rightly you have to convert to wav file first but that is no big deal. The accuracy of Dragon is outstanding for dictating and fairly good from a recording, i wrote a 13,000 word dissertation using it and it made fewer than 50 mistakes, the 20 minutes it took me to correct me was nothing compared to the hours it saved.
