warning ahead ! Noob question incoming,

i've been wondering for yrs and havent really found the answers is there a pc card, adapter or whatever that links the world of sats to the pc.

plz note i dont just mean watching TV, i'm sure thease little buggers do lots more then just sending TV signals ?

can we do our own g**gle Earth thing ?
