Why are Swansea and Cardiff allowed in, but Glasgow not?

I have never really thought about it i dont think, but watching the playoff final with Swansea and Barnsley (congrats Walter ) I was wondering how the FA can justify the inclusion of both Cardiff and Swansea into the English Football Association, but yet they dont grant the two big clubs in Scotland their wish of joining the English leagues?

anyone have a real answer for that? I would imagine that its something to do with wales not having a proffessional league and Scotland do or something along those lines,...

dunno, but i imagine glasgow and celtic would never get further than the lower leagues. Perhaps championship, but never premiership.

The scottish FA allow Berwick in their league and they are English... just.

Good question, but Rangers & Celtic would be mid table teams in the Premiership in my opinion. The would never be able to compete against Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal *cough* Boro *cough* etc... week in week out.

Perhaps not initially, but as soon as they get into the prem, they can pay big wages, they will get alot higher TV income, their fanbase would get even bigger, and I really believe they could then take themselves way out in front out of reach. Their supporters as so fanatical, the money would start pouring in if they got into the prem I think that perhaps is the real reason they have never been invited into it.

Obviously a man who knows his stuff. Your bang on the money. Celtic and Rangers would be mid table for the first couple of seasons there's no doubt, mainly because of money and we can't really attract top players just now. I think sky gives the lower ranked premier league sides about 10 million, we get about 3-4. But obviously initially we wouldn't do well. Remember we played in the eufa final 3 years ago and Rangers played in the last 16 of the CL this year so however said we are a lowly championship side or words to that effect is talking complete pish.

But when it comes to the premiership would you really see top end players going to ....Scotland...

YUes some do now as they become instant hero's and household names but when it comes to the premiership it's a different game.

In scotland you have 2 teams, you would never see a player go to a lesser team to get noticed (i'm thinking of the likes of Chimbonda, Geremi, etc... all start out at lower teams in the 'shop window').

Rangers and Celtic would lose to much money in the way of Champions League cash too. There is not a chance they would qualify for the champions league in the next 10 years if they joined the english league.

Saying all this however I would like to see a combined league in the future.

Technically, unless the rule has changed recently.. Cardiff, Wrexham & Swansea cannot get into the Premiership (apart from being nto good enough obviously).. there's a ruling for Premiership entry that states the team must be based in England. There was something in the Welsh press a few years ago, when Cardiff thought they were going to get there within a couple of years (PMSL etc.). I doubt they would be barred entry though, the rule would probably get changed. But as it stands, they can't.

I think allowing those teams into the English Leagues may weaken the power that our FA's have as FIFA may seek to attempt a Joining of the FA's. Hence no British national team.

oh and we sing songs with anti english sentiment but on more than one occasion last season I heard english fans singing Aberfan chants. You tell me what's worse, singing about weeing in public on the other side of the Severn Bridge or about the deaths of 116 school children?

I absolutley disagree. they would be a mid table team with consistency. theyd never compete in the top 3 throughout the season
