    Default *FINISHED PICS* Half Sleeve

Guys, been and finalised the design for my upper left arm sleeve, going in on Thursday for the outline, gonna be 3 sessions for the whole thing

Going for a Japanese style Koi with the cool waves and a few sakura (cherry blossom) flowers in the water.

The design looks excellent, so am well excited.

Oh the artist is http://www.horizaru.com/ a really sound guy, speaks very little english, but if you are in Tokyo and want a friendly guy to look through and talk about designs with he's your man!

He's also headlining the Richmond Tattoo convention in June, so go and say hello if you are going...

Will update this with pictures as and when progress is made!

Post the pics at each session. I am designing a left half sleeve as well. Japanese design. Bit jealous that you are actually in Japan getting it done!
    Looking forward to seeing it.

lol yeah its not cheap, but he has spent a few hours with me discussing the design, showing me books, doing sketches and drawings (on paper and on me) as well as doing a 'proper' design on paper.

If you think about it though, he says it will take around 20 hours to do, 4 hours for the outline, and 2 x 8 hours sessions for the shading. This works out to 35 quid ish an hour, not including the time he's already spent with me!

I also didnt look at cost at all when choosing an artist for this, I spoke to several different studio's in Tokyo, and decided who I liked best and who I was most comfortable with... I then found out about cost

Like you say, its going to be with you for the rest of your life, so might as well get it done right!

damn, when I first read your post I thought you was still in the UK. I've been looking for a local artist for ages. I wouldn't trust anyone I have met local.

having a tattoo done in a foriegn country is so much better tho isnt it, when you show it someone and they are impressed you can tell em it was done 7000 miles away so theres no chance of em getting the same

Id rather have an asian guy drawing asian art too.

@ {{909}} - I see what you're saying, but he is a local guy to me, I'd rather research the local artists and choose the best informed on solid research, rather than going on a 'spur of the moment' stylee when on holiday! I wanted Japanese style because I was in Japan, so it really allowed me to find someone who understands the 'local' style of tattooing, although to be honest mine will not be a traditional Japanese sleeve, which if it was would have a chest shield like this:

    Spoiler:

@Wizer - The guys called Mick Rose from memory, but I'd PM Tattooed Freak to check and get contact details etc..
