the reason why these have gone (i think) is on VBulletin these extra options slow down the forum speed. There is another post from Rap regarding speeding up the forum, hence i think they have gone to increase forum speed

the box bit displaying the names from the "whos online" page on the main index was showing up to 300 members 24/7 which absolutely kills the forum. apparently the feature isnt recommended for large forums with many simultaneous users.

According to you any comment/observation regarding this forum construes the usage of drugs. Maybe you're on them?

Anyway, before all these latest hacks were introduced the speed of the forum was fine. Only the error 500 was a problem. I understand why showing 300 users might slow things down, but it never seemed to be the case in reality.

As for the latest posts, I found it very handy to have for quick access to any hot topics.

the forum was not fine before rap spent ages on it this week. 20 internal errors every few hours is not what i call fine.

Mate, as I said, apart from the 500 errors, look up there I did say that, speed wise the forum seemed to run fine for me. As for latest posts, I'm talking about the small list that was at the bottom of the home page underneath the who's online section. Not the New Posts tab at the top of the home page. Fucks sake lighten up.

the 500 errors were a symptom of the board struggling to keep up with demands.. speed was fine until load got too high and then internal errors kicked in. eg, the board couldnt cope with keeping up said speed.

what your saying is like saying yes my motor is fast as fuck, till it brakes down. at which point it becomes fucking useless and speed is not even a factor.

the new posts and whos online section at the bottom of the board are really no great loss, they were simply syndicated from other areas of the board that are still freely available and operational, so theres really no reason to complain unless you sit on the main index and constantly refresh the page. personally i never even look at the index.. i browse the board from the new posts button and nothing else, as do most.
