ken is actually a word in the english dictionary though, nothing massively scottish or special about it. to be fair it is a noun, meaning understanding. so "ye ken?" is technically using the scottish verb, meaning to know. its close enough though, and "ye ken?" could be a contraction of something that does allow you to use the english word.
