I'm new to this
I was a fanatic of Opera. A total Opera freak - that was a year or so ago. I ditched it as it couldn't handle the specialised format adopted by (eg) The Sun's website. It couldn't handle their way of presenting graphics.
Good to see someone listing such a comprehensive comparison though.
still a firefox fan here, really dont care if it takes 5 seconds less to start up when you initially load it.
thats like saying xp is better than debian purely because it boots faster
pretty sure you can take one metric and prove anything with software
Intresting that the script speed is faster, but can say Ive ever really noticed a difference when using opera compared to firefox or ie
if xp booted faster than debian that would be a fucking miracle.
wasnt trying to prove or convert anything or anyone .. i just posted a fuckin link to a new browser comparison that included opera 9/ff1.5/ie7 .. jesus.
Yet you only mentioned Opera in your original post. Hmmmm....Originally Posted by marcode

i mentioned opera cos the link showed on windows it was the fastest in all but a couple of catagories i think...To summarise
So overall, Opera seems to be the fastest browser for windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice. However, it is still not as fast as Opera, and Opera also offers a high level of standards support, security and features.
FF is beginning to irritate me a little
on pc im a big firefox fan HOWEVER i am starting to see rather big flaws. Speed for one. Seems to eat memory too. Maybe its time to try something else.
Firefox on mac however is THE browser to have. Fast and compatible.

i've been running Opera for a day and a bit now and seems to be fine, liking the magic wand to!
can confirm that using the extension FASTERFOX does make it faster.although just watch what settings you use as the turbo setting can sometimes cause probs with some sitesOriginally Posted by t4z
