    Question Lost Keys advice

Can anyone tell me how to go about sorting this....
My girlfriend has lost her only set of keys to her Ford Ka on a 98 plate and i was wondering what the best option is (cheapest)?

I first thought that i could go down to the local scrappers and buy a ignition barrel and door barrels but after doing a bit of googling (not found much) I've read that it has an immobiliser on it which can only be disarmed with the key and that she needs a key code to replace the key which she hasn't got...

    Any advice would be appreciated

If you contact the selling dealer then they may have a copy of the key number so you can order a new set of keys, then these will need programming into the car using diagnostic equipment.
Alternatively you could buy a new lockset, drill out the ignition barrel and then have the system programmed to accept the new set.
Either way it won't be cheap m8

    Thanks urbsy,

She knows where she left them but when we went back they where gone....
We are going to put some lost keys signs up around the village and hang fire for a week, we've also contacted the local police station incase they turn up.

I'm not that optimistic but it's worth a try.

I will contact the local dealer and see if i can get the key number and start pricing up.

It's not a good time realy, we are both skint .

    Thanks again Jonny

Check to see if your insurance, either house or car, covers you for lost keys, you may be able to claim.

    Just an update...
We decided to pay for a lock smith to come out,
He had the key code in a matter of minutes by using a tool which he inserted into the lock and turned up and down and recorded the numbers as he moved up the barrel...

He then cut the keys and made sure they were correct next he plugged a orange box into a socket on the passenger side typed in the make and model etc which then reset the
immobiliser and reprogrammed the transponder in the keys.

    Clever stuff

Ford had quoted me well over 300 squid and i had to get the car to them and it would have taken then 3 to 4 days. This guy did it in 30 minutes and it cost me £120 or £140 for two keys so for the extra £20 i went for the two keys.

    Thanks for all the input

I thought it was a good result too... Until last night!
Recieved a text off one of the neighbors saying he had our car keys, i was like no chance as where my girlfriend left them was a really obscure place which is in the middle of no where...
It turns out that there kids and there friends go up to this place to swim in the pond and hang out and one of them picked the keys up.

    What are the fookin chances

I feel like some one up there is taking the piss out of me!

We needed to do it as she needed the car for work on monday but! grrrrrrrrr
