they only have to keep your records for six years I think so unless you have copies of your statements from over 6 years ago you're out of luck straight off

Thats why it would be trickier then. Sorry I cant help more, 6 years will do me fine, made redundant 3 years back, boy did they really lay the boot in then, working now but they really crippled me back thenOriginally Posted by blacksheep

I am intertested but only have 1 question.
I have had a 2000 pound overdraft for at least 5 years at full limit and they have been charging me interest on the values and even more if I go over.
Can I claim all the interest back, or just the extra charges or what??
I don't think so, as the interest rates they charge you on are not unfair.Originally Posted by Andy Poobar
IF they charged you, say, £35 for going over your limit, then you should have a case to claim them back.

you can claim the interest on the charges I think ie if you went over your overdraft and charged you £35 then charged interest on that then you can claim that interest back
This all seems a bit 'easy' for something that is essentially my fault.
From the FAQ on that site (bit confusing) am I correct in saying that you simply:
- Get your statements using the request letter
- Highlight all charges, and add them up
- Issue the bank with a claim
Obviously there would be further steps to completion but would the above be the basic starting steps?
From what i can gather that seems exactly right.Originally Posted by headsortails
It seems too simple to me
You do that.
- Bank says sod off
- File small claims court charge
- Bank cry's and says "oh go on then here's your money back. Slap my wrist".
Seems too good to be true
The only thing that stops me from doing this now is that the cheque for the statements would probably bounce. Oh the irony.
Thats the procedure, simple = good.Originally Posted by Epiphany

Dont forget you have to send a request for payment before the LBA m8.
Im at the stage now where i am posting my Allocation Questionnaire back to Birmingham County Court, shouldnt be long now to my payout.
I have sent my spreadsheet of evidence to Lloyds solicitors already.
If you need any help just ask m8

Well if it really is this easy i think i'm going to take my girlfriend into the bank on saturday and request them all for her. Probably thousands worth of charges she's wasted!
Nice one! Did you use the MoneyClaim website?Originally Posted by DappaBastard

Yes m8. very easy to use, once it was filed on the website they contact Lloyds and let them know.
Then Lloyds have so long to say they are going to defend, once they do it is moved to the area in which the bank resides (in my case it was Birmingham because the address i used to file was the customer care address), once the allocation questionnaire comes through you can apply to have it moved to your local county court though. (but it wont go that far)

has anyone done this with barclays?
in my student days i used to go overdrawn in a month, barclays charged £25-30 every time you went overdrawn upto 3 times a month, i was paying £75 a month for years.
If i take this up what are the chances they will close the account?
reason im asking is because ive recently opened 2 business accounts with them.
I think on that site it meantioned they may close your a/c so have another one or two ready just in case.
