    News Photo Competition - July

    Here we go again.

This months competition theme for you to ponder, as chosen by Mr. O, is.......... Landscape.

Thread will close on the 24th.

    Rules:
    • Must be your own work.
    • Only 1 entry each.
    • Entries can be changed once during the competition if you feel you've taken a better shot, but please make a separate post with the new entry and edit out your old image from your previous post, to keep things in the correct chronological order.
    • Max file size 1600x600 (for this month). (There's info on optimising your image size in the sticky of the same name)
    • Pictures to be embedded into your post in this thread rather than attached. (Use a free image host that allows hot linking such as imageshack or photobucket and encase the direct link in [IMG][/IMG] tags. There's a quick guide on how to do it here)
    • Entries should to be taken for the competition rather than entering a previously shot image.
    • Photoshop (or other imaging software) use is allowed, to enhance your image, but please remember this competition is about producing the best photo not the best piece of artwork.

As the landscape theme lends itself so well to the format I thought it might be a good idea to allow panoramic shots this month.

If you do want to enter a panorama (you don't have to) please restrict it to a maximum size of 1600x600, and encase it in [spoiler]your image here[/spoiler] tags so it doesn't mess up the thread layout.

Nice one slarti, had the ideal location scouted already, but ruled it out as the image would have been too big.. Looks like it's back on again then..

landscape n 1.an extensive area of scenery as viewed from a single aspect.

What you decide to include in that is up to you. Scenery can be industrial as well as rural.

Do a quick search on google for Landscape Photography and see what it brings.
There have been a couple of very famous lanscape photographers over the years, try looking at some of Joe Cornish's work. Very very impressive...

    sorry, i'm new.

Thanks, I suppose I meant does say a long picture that includes maybe a motorway or a big bridge count as 'landscape' .

    Slarti summed it up. Cheers.

When do I have to post it by?

Not sure if this is my final entry, but I'm reasonably happy with it. Taken at about 9-30 on Friday night at Birdlip - turns out the spot is a well known dogging location. I took my photos and left asap lol.

Went back at about 0430 and managed to catch some of the sunrise (no doggers around fortunately!), not had a chance to edit those ones yet though, might post them later.

    Spoiler:

EDIT: Changed my picture, new pic added at end of string

How about a positive LSD story? Would you like to see a positive LSD story on the news to hear what's it all about, perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting just once?

"Today, a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves... Here's Tom with the weather".

My entry will be this one - taken at the Trough of Bowland. Didn't go for panorama, just as pleasant a view as I could find up there.

Got 7 massive horsefly bites for my troubles - had to go to the quack for a course of anti-histamines and antibiotics!!! Worth it for the result though.
