!) Don't read straight from the slides/cards you have made. Make it your own and drift off into relevant digressions to show that you have the confidence and charisma to easily talk to a group of people.
    2) Have a sense of humour.
    3) Know your subject well for the questions that they will inevitably ask you towards the end. Don't just download something and go with it.

All obvious ones, but it's a start!

I hope I'm not being condescending with this tip as its a presentation basic, but don't just read the screen out - have the slide list or highlight the main points while you read from a script or better still from memory.

Involve something the audience can hold/touch/feel - I once did a presentation about Psion handheld computers and passed round a Psion, it adds another dimension and may make you feel less 'watched'.

Don't go over the top with with graphics, colour and animation - keep it simple and clear.

Hope this is of some help.

yeah, avoid animations/sounds etc. Crisp, clean, clear displays in a reasonable (not huge, not tiny) font size.

A script of bullet points is best, then you can work from memory. Although the presentations i've done have been for big projects which i've spent a while working on so this was easy for me to do. Best bet is to just find something you're interested in and use that.
