Default Tenerife - Anyone got any recommendations?

We're going Tenerife in just over a week, to the resort of Golf Del Sur. Its south tenerife near Los Christianos and Las Americas.

Anyone got any recommendations of where to visit, fun stuff and pubs/restaurants for the evenings?

LO M8 - I'll be just over the other side from you as of next sunday 23rd, going to Costa Adeje.
Few years ago went to Costa Del Silencio just down from where you are. Had a great time, close enough to Las Americas etc for the hustle and bustle and far enough away for the quiet life.
Search out Eagle Park - Las aguiles del teide - Just outside Las Americas. Bloody brilliant day out - bit smaller than Loro Park(too many parrots for my liking, but loved the sharks) but closer and cheaper with lots to see.
Also kids really enjoyed the castle show with the Knights fighting. can't remember the name but you'll see the flyers everywhere.
We stayed out of the big resorts at night cos of the kids, had some great meals in Las Galletas and got a local shopkeeper to tell me some local places to eat. I'd recommend doing that.
Got some outstanding steak meals and local dishes for next to nothing.
Felt a bit like a scene in an old western movie when they all stopped and stared as we walked in but atmosphere was great after that with all the locals having fun and dancing.
I will be doing that again soon. Can't wait.

I stayed at the Esmeralda all inclusive last time I went.

Not half bad, not that many English peeps and way too many Germans, but the hotel itself is pretty nice and they have a wide selection of grub on offer.

Also, might be worth kicking up a fuss about something (anything) as you'll end up with loads of free stuff sent to your room, like Champagne and fruit!

Great views of the mountains one side and the sea the other, if you get a decent enough room.

There is a fantastic karting circuit up in the hills over looking los cristianos, we got some tickets from a guy selling tours on the street out of his van, he called us up a free air conditioned people carrier and away we went, was ace fun! got a bar there and a big terrace overlooking the track and the coastline, with outdoor pool tables etc.

    well worth a vist
