pic programming

I bought a pic programmer that plugs into the serial com port.
I never got to grips with the programming of said items,what applications do I need, or what websites will instruct me how to make the things do something. Assembly, disassembly the whole shabang.

Have a read of this thread for what I consider decent kit. If your PIC Programmer uses MPLAB then it will show the disassembly of a loaded HEX file.

Hi, If you want to program in assembler then i recomend using MPLAB IDE as its free

For actually programming the chip then I suggest using an ICD2 which you can pic up on ebay pretty cheap but as you already have a programmer than try using the software from here http://www.ic-prog.net/

you dont say which pic micro you plan to use or what you whish to make/try?
