    Question Is This Correct?

I've had a webhosting account with a well-recommended hosting company for two months, cost me £45 for the year upfront.. nice nice. I had a domain name from the start, and now I've wanted to change it to something new.

There were no clear instructions on the site on how to get a new parked domain name for a current account, so I bought a new one with them and notified them on my original webhosting & domain account.

They say there's no way possible of transfering the new over the old? Is this possible? I don't want to be paying more out, I'm currently in worried-about-cash mode after a HUGE spending session over the course of World Cup Month!

    Thanks in advance.

PS - The new URL i bought with them is the only one suitable for the project I bought it for, so that solutions out.

It could be done quite easily but it depends on whether the host will let you, is there anything in the T&C's about additional domains etc?

you can easily use a new domain name to point to the current space no matter what your host tells you.
they just want to make extra money out of you

however its a change they have to make for you, the only other free way is to have the domain parked and have a forwarder set to your current domain name unless you wanted to use the 2 names as different sites then it still can be done with some changes quite easily by the host.

Cheers guys. Pug mate there's nothing in the T&C's from what i've searched through. The company is Streamline.net, they've told me twice sternly that it can't be done and they're either being correct OR wanting the extra wonga as Shadowdancer says, and as my gut instinct told me anyway hence the topic here.

So.. I'll either have to think up a different name for the website venture I'm planning or think of how to get them to sort the shizzle out. I'm stuck with the 1 domain name I wanted in an unuseable state - I have 2 hosting accounts with these guys already and don't wanna buy another.

    Cheers.

I notice on the spec. for your hosting it doesnt mention parked domains, it doesn't even offer domain re-direct for a fee, which is unusual.

Are they proposing that you have an entirely different hosting account for the new domain, even though you want it to point at the content of the original one?

Yeah, they allow domain pointing for free but parking a new one over the current one is "impossible", and they're saying buying hosting is the only way I can get the site I'm looking to build, to work with it..

I've already got Unlimited & Power accounts with them for different websites, I'm not buying anymore.

Sounds like poor service to me.

I'd say transfer your hosting at the earliest opportunity.
