think about it.. if somone dropped a plate and you went "over tired" .. whoever was in the vicinity would look at you like you were a fucking retard. its too flippant.
Was gonna say the same thing. This is a Lancashire thing that folk round here say when their kids are fucked as a result of doing too much and wanting to carry on being involved in whaever is going on and are effectively too knackered to go to sleep, hence overtired. My Mrs says it about our nipper when she is knackered but doesn't want to go to bed for fear of missing something and is as cranky as fuck as a result.
No one is going to make a nationwode advertisement that would only make sense to a regional group of people.
exactly, this shite about it being a northern thing, and that being the "joke" is rubbish.
the joke is the fact the kids are talking about the parents like kids.. eg.. oh, they are tired...
its fuck all to do with being northern or parents saying "overtired"... since that word doesnt even exist, only fucking retards must use it. ive never once heard anyone use the term overtired in my fucking life.
They didn't. I'm from the south and it makes perfect sense to me. I've heard the phrase used loads of times to describe kids who are acting up because it's past their bedtime.Originally Posted by headsortails
As for the email being fake, that's simple, contact them and find out.
tbh who really cares, the adverts shit.
ive just watched it again about 15 times. i blame this entire argument on the 2 little fat cunts who cant pronounce their words right.
watch the skinny kid at the back.. he says it right... oh, they're tired.
the two little podgy bastards fuck it up and run their words together.
but i agree with slarti on something... the ad is shite.
Never heard anyone go on about neeps and tatties either but it doesn't mean some of our provincial brethren don't use those words however ridiculous they sound to others.Originally Posted by marcode

Northern Studios.
Director, from York: "OK, we've got the script here. Are we all OK with it?"
All: "Yeah"
Little person at the back: "Actually, the last line make's no sense. Shouldn't it be "Oh, they're tired?"
Director: "Why yes, I think it should. Must be a typo. OK, change that. make sure you tell the kids."
And lo! The script writters think it's "overtired" cos that's what they wrote, but the actors (And us Northerners) know that it actually says "Oh, they're tired!"
Well I've heard the term over tired many a time in my life. It's over tired and that's that. Doesn't matter if it's a non existent word or not, most of todays English language is made up anyway lol

Overtired is a word, whether its just slang or not I don't know but I have been using it for ages and regularly and heard many many others use it, it is when you reach that point where you haven't slept for so long that you don't feel tired anymore, instead you have a small energy. I get it quite often.Originally Posted by FireBlade
Saying that I still don't think they say "overtired" in the ad
Never heard of a dictionary either?Originally Posted by marcode

Overtired is a phrase usd the nation over to describe kids who are just that - too tired to do anything, even sleep. Usually follows a manic phase where they run around like loons.
Anyway, if it isn't a real word, how come no-one has questioned the word
buahahahah and its varients?

overtired is a saying, which is usually said when kids are grotty through lack of sleep.
friend: "arrrhh your kid is crying"
parent: "yeah i know, she is over tired"
its a saying.. ITS OVERTIRED!!
Saying 'she is overtired' sounds right, but to just say the word overtired on it's own doesn't.
Why also would they pronounce it Oooooovertired.
