If nature always takes the easiest route, what's easier...?
The creation of billions of galaxies each containing trillions of stars each with their own solar systems, some with planets that have evolved civilisations with billions of different life forms. OR The creation of just your imagination?

    Easy Peasy this one.....

The sum of the 2 digit number added up will always be a multiple of 9. If you look at the chart when it appears, you will see that all multiples of 9 are the same symbol, and each time you try the "trick" the sybols for the multiples of 9 will change, giving the illusion that it's a different symbol for each number....

    Too easy

:edit: The second one is a no-brainer as well. If you add up the length of the bottom edge (8 + 5) then you get 13. When the top shape (the one with the nobbly bit on the bottom) is moved, the bottom edge only equals 5. Add this to the 5 from the top triangle and you get 10. There are 3 (metres / centimetres etc) left over, this is the gap.

Well done MT, we managed to suss out that multiples of 9 was something to do withthe 1st one, didn't clock the changing symbols.

    the second one I'm still confused, I was thinking in terms of area, surely area of shapes must change as if area a + b + c = d, then a + b + c < d can't be also true.

It's a trick with the triangles, they're not the same shape. One is 8, 3, 8.49 and the other is 5, 2, 5.39. The angle of the yellow triangle is 20.55 and the red one is 21.80. If I remember correctly from seeing this before one of the triangles has a concave hypotenuse & the other has a convex hypotenuse. You can see there is a difference in shape when the triangles finish moving but prior to the white border bing superimposed on top.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Ok, I think I worked this one out too (maths lessons was a LONG time ago for me so bear with me here guys)

The triangle is right angled, which makes it half a rectangle and can be split as such. Therefore the area of the big triangle is (13 * 5) / 2 = 32.5. the area of the smaller shapes are as follows:
    Yellow triangle (the bigger one at the front): (8 * 3) / 2 = 12
    Red triangle (the smaller one at the back initially): (5 * 2) / 2 = 5
Split the odd shapes into 2 rectangles each.
    Green one is split into a 5 * 1 and a 2 * 1 = 5 + 2 = 7
    Blue one is split into a 5 * 1 and a 3 * 1 = 5 + 3 = 8

Now add up the areas: 12 + 5 + 7 + 8 = 32 (the 0.5 has vanished into the ether). Now this proves that a+b+c+d <> AREA OF SHAPE, otherwise AREA OF SHAPE-a-b-c-d = 0, hwich it clearly doesn't. The trick is the triangles....

This shows that even if we do not use a fiddled hypotenuse measurement, and calculate it, it doesn't work. Also, the pieces wouldn't line up to certain points if that side had been made convex or concave.

This is annoying. If I wasn't so stoned I would make em out of paper to test.

Pics, and for those who dont believe, download the nzb and change extension to mp4 and its a vid off my mobile.

I'm confused, cos I thought it would be some sort of optical illusion or something changed inbetween, but it didn't apart from the area of the triangle!

That first one is top, I couldn't figure it out at all didn't think about the images changing every time.

And 'carlover' not only did you get so stoned that you made the triangle out of paper, but you got so mashed you managed go back in time 3 years lol.
