Right, I'm off to the bank first thing tomorrow then. Only Bangkok booked so far, but definitely open to suggestions.

I touched down in Bangkok (Feb 06) and headed to Chiang Mai, stayed there then moved down to Phuket which is lovely.

Loads of "tsunami evacuation point" but most of the beach front is nice and new.

I would deff do the Jame's Bond tour thats a great day out.

Ko Pang Yang & Ko Samui are the "big" tourist pullers but they are amazing.

I've never been myself but Pattaya is the nightlife & girls capital

    Have a great trip.

How much was your ticket & where from if you don't mind me asking? Just im hoping to go back again in November

Iam looking into going to Thailand, but iam not too sure on what is a good price.

What should i be expecting to pay for 2 adults in decent accommodation for about 4 days to a week, and how much spending money would i need.

We paid £697 each for 3 weeks starting 24th Aug in a 3 star hotel in Bangkok. That included deluxe room upgrade, taxes, fees, travel insurance and hotel transfers. Also got 16hr flights there and back as some of the cheaper flights had 32hr each way. This was from Expedia. Also got 2% off from Quidco.

when i went to malaysia it was 550 for the flight, which had 1 stop in dubai. 16-17 hours in total, wouldnt expect it to vary much to thailand since its close. If i was going there again, id probably do another little round tour, you could do singapore, hong kong, malaysia, thailand etc with little extra cost, flights around the area are cheap and so are hotels.

I woudnt go for just 4 days, since once your there its so cheap, the most expensive thing is the flight. Spending money would vary what you were doing, but eating out is very cheap in asia, i spent 2 months there and ate out in resturants about 3/4 times a week and payed for my hosts meal too and it wasnt very expensive at all.

It totally depends on what part. I was in Chiang my, had a twin room to myself with shower, air con, TV all the trimmings for 600 baht a night.

Down south the prices do seem to rise but wherever you go it's gonna be cheap. (compared to English prices) You can get the proper muts nutts in Chiang Mai for 1500 baht. I was there for awhile so went for guest houses rather than hotels. I was only paying about a fiver a night, in a brand new building 2mins walk from centre.

As for spending money I was doing about a grand a month. I was living like a king on out on the town every night. Didn't really buy much stuff, apart from drink, food, days out etc....

Prices do vary from place to place, you can haggle most stuff to a good price. You can haggle TutTuts also, which I only found out later in my trip. I prefered to give them extra though and get them to pull wheelies!!

As above check out Soi Cowboy. We were on kao san road and jumped into a taxi for about 300baht. I was in a room with a mate that night and after a trip up there I wish i wern't!!!

Something else I thought of that you may be able to answer as you have only just returned, did you take travellers cheques, and can you remeber what sort of rate you were getting?

theres another thread about changing money, and someone recommends a bank that does free international withdrawls, cant recall the name now but that is ideal.

Yep, its Nationwide, I have signed up and am taking the card with me, but I am worried if I lose it I will be in trouble, whereas travellers cheques allow some come back if lost.
