    Default What pc specs do you need?

    hey guys, just wondering what type of pc specs you need to flash your dvd drive? i read about intel chipsets etc..??? Also can you use these connectivity kits on any pc?

    all the answers you need are here, you just have to read - try a search. You need SATA for starters...

    post up your msinfo32 details.

    start > run > msinfo32 > components > storage > IDE

    Bfg was right in his answer to you and had you posted the info
    he requested he could of gave you a simple answer.

    The requirements are that you need a suitable sata chipset
    details below.

    PCI SATA:
    VIA VT 8237 WORKS
    VIA VT 6421L WORKS (with edited mtkflash)
    Nforce 410 chipset (mcp51) WORKS (with edited mtkflash)
    Sil3112 Chipset Does not work
    Sil3114 Does not work
    Sil3512 (CompUsa) Does not work
    Maxtor SATA card w Promise chipset (free with hard drives) Does not work

    ONBOARD SATA:

    MSI k7n2 delta (Promise SATA) - Does not work
    ASUS with sil3114 Controller (ICH6) - Compatible for some?
    VIA Chipset - Compatible
    Intel Chipset (ICH5 / ICH6) Compatible
    ASUS p5ad2 premium (with ich6) - Compatible
    Intel Chipset ICH7) - Compatible with hex-edited mtkflash?
    Promise Sata controller on the ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe - Compatible, not HDD
    NF4SAT1 nForce 4 SATA Controller - Compatible with proper Mtkflash
    Abit NF7-S2GNnforce2 SATA (mapped as IDE ports 3+4) - Compatible

    Floppy drive is also required.

    Depends what drive he has. I didnt need a floppy or usb stick.

    Si3114 *does* work (A7N8X) on the hitachi.

    i had to hex edit my mtkflash to work with my abit board i can send it to u if u want to try it
