Cars Driving Lessons To Passing Driving Test

Being honest, How many driving lessons did you take before passing your driving test? Also what model of car did you first buy?

13 lessons - booked my test.

I then just done a few more lessons in the area where i booked my test - as i had never drove there before.

So in total it was about 20.

Thats actual paid for instructor hours - but i borrowed mates cars do go round car parks, practice parking etc for many hours in the evening.

Passed my test last month and now have a Peugeot 306 1.4l

My son as just started his driving lessons, this will be his 5th. he's looking to buy a Clio.
His mate took 12 lessons and booked his driving test, he passed first time,
a goal in which is set for my son to beat.
His next driving lesson is 9am tomorrow.

I took a total of 9 lessons and passed 1st time but I did know how to drive before I was 17 and also pestered anyone over 21 who gave me a lift anywhere to let me drive. This way I had a lot more experience and confidence when it came to driving.

My first car was an X-reg 1.0L Metro. Very basic and lacking in power but an ideal 1st motor.

10 lessons, passed first time and first car was an R reg Vauxhall Vectra 1.6ls. Was a fun car to drive specially when i was only 18 and all my mates were driving little metros. Never gave me any trouble in 3-4 years which is why i've got a 2.0l facelift one now.

tbh, i dont think that passing the driving test with minimal time behind the wheel is a good idea. Sure you can go on these crash courses nd pass the test at the end of the week, but what you're left with is a very unexperienced new driver, who is more likely to get into an accident than someone that has been taking thier time to learn how to drive. I myself did my first test with roughly 12 hrs under my belt nd failed miserably. Altough i was totally pissed of at the time, in hindsight it was a blessing in disguise as i would have almost certainly gone out and written of my car.

As it happens i passed on my 4th attempt after roughly 24 hrs tuition nd probs the same in driving around my own car with my ma sitting in, and i havent had a major accident (just a small one on account of ice ) in 3 yrs of driving.

My first car (which im still driving) is a 53 plate 1.6 focus

Damn, beat me. I had 3 then drove my mum everywhere she needed to go for a couple of months, then had two the two days before my test and jammily just passed.

First car was a golf gti mk1 on an old x plate, nice, nippyish, good handling, but even for my 1st car I was disappointed with speed, but was happy to get the gti for the bragging factor - most of my school mates had brand new 1.1 clios and crap like that.

Probably had about 30 lessons in total, only cos i had four different cars with two tutors.
Used 2 corsas, a MG ZR (whoop!) and a shity old punto. The first tutor pissed off up north before my test, she was hot, which is why i had 2 tutors

First car was a 1.4 clio. Bought it with tinted rear passenger windows and 15" rims which made the fact it was Purple bearable bought it in the dark, thought it was williams blue.

passed second time around < examiner thought i was an aussie, weird

Talking about hot driving instructors, mine for the first 3 always used to wear really short skirts, and I couldn't help but check here legs out when I got the opportunity

Imagine my surprise when instructor no. 2 told me the second mirror they have is to watch where your eyes are going

8 lessons including the 2 hrs before test, passed 1st time, although I had lots of previous driving experience when I was 16, but the police did not see it as " experience", more as joyriding Cunts
have now driven well over 1 million miles without a single crash
EDIT-1st car was a mini club 1000 in bright orange, go-kart with a tax disk

Well ... you wouldn't believe it.

    2

    Yes you read that right.

Explaination.... I guess I was one of the original Joy riders. I used to nick my mums car a relic called a original shape Hillman Minx (probably worth a fortune now) and go "Bush Bashing". But I never wnated to drive like a twat, I wanted to be good at driving. Yeah I got a wholloping from my mum ( The BELT) but she took me out on her own "Little test" to put her mind at rest. Just as well it was Western Australia and we lived right next to the Bush. In Fact the Biggest speedway trck in the sourthern hemisphere (forrestield) was down that gravel road at the bottom of our street.

ok .. That was when I was 15. Fast forward to 1978 and we are now in UK.

    Just turned 17.

applied for lessons. BIG fat humongous dude came round (me shat myself). Said can't teach you for a week but fill in this test application and I'll hand it in.

    Did so.

He came round and said "don't suppose you can use that Station Wagon to help me move into my new flat ? ( Mums car)

    Ok !!

So we set off in his little Datsun f100A

    I drove nervously.. He said..

"look.... Whats the speed limit down here?"

    I said 60mph

He replied "Well fooking well do it. I don't believe in learners holding the traffic up".

    Aaaaalrighty !!

    This was on a Monday.

He turned up on the Wednesday. Which was strange as my next lesson wasn't until next Monday.

"Got your test through mate .... THIS FRIDAY !!"

    FRIDAY ? Foooookiiiin ell

next lesson was pre test on friday morn.

    Past

    :-)

Must be in the blood coz I've now been driving Heavies for 21 years.
