Default Total Newb - Which Way to Go For Modding?

Flash the drive, get a chip? What's the best route, advantages/disadvantages?

@Benny, there's a lot of information around mate, on this forum and also Xbox-Scene.
@BBShark, it's not on general sale yet (afaik), no price yet, only for Hitachi as the USB won't function in DOS (note, this is my assumption from what I've read so it might be crap!), correct the device is essentially a SATA to USB adapter.

    Hope it helps.

    cheers skel

went to do my bros today but couldnt seem to understand how to get the drive to show in windows ( using windows vista )
chap at bowlers did it for us for £20 cause id already opened the box he just had to flash it.

kids are wanting one so im gonna have to look at getting one but i dont want to be paying out to get it modded when it looks so easy to do.
i think the problem is my sata which is via chipset have been told that nvida chipset is required.

VIA can work, my machines are both nForce3 so I can't give you the benefits of my experience. Was you bros a Samsung or Hitachi? I assume H. How were you trying to get it to show? I've got the Xecuter Connectivity kit and it works perfectly.

Needs to be in 'Hitachi Mode B', (google it), the connectivity kit has a button on it that puts it directly into mode b. You can do it with some shorting wires but I wouldn't do that myself.
