Good post mate, may come in handy some day, thanks
TOP POST..
Just updated my 6680 to what I assume is the latest fw of v4.04.07
NOTE: don't touch the phone when it looked like it's switched off at about 10% installation... it's not switched off just deactivated the screen/keyboard/lights
I'm going to pick up my old 6600 from the office tomorrow to see if that works too, does anyone know if the cable that comes with the 6680 fits the 6600!?

N80 not on there yet though support for OTA comes in with the firmware that came out last week so off to the Nokia shop I go.
None for the N91 either, and best one yet, this does not appear to be available in Finland at all

@zelnik - 6600 isn't on the "supported phones" list for this update - probably because it doesn't have a cable "officially" Nokia didn't make one cos they mistakenly assumed that folks would be happy using bluetooth/Infra-Red

Some of the N70 models have known issue's with bluetooth and software compatibility , So i think they only brought those phones out for now............ i think its great sony ericsson have been doing it for ages but they had drastic problems with some of there older models lol
i also have an N80 and was disappointed i guess us N80 N91 owners have good working phones
I have an N70. So I downloaded, installed and ran this proggie to update. At the end of the install, just before it actually puts new firmware on, it told me I already had the latest firmware My phone is from November 2005, on Three with version 2.0539.1.2, 19-10-05, RM-84. Definitely not the latest version, but maybe it recognised the fact it was a '3' version and that is their latest version? hmm... Anyway it gave me an opportunity to reinstall, so I thought I might as well try it and see if it would update to a later version anyway, but no joy. Installed same version
Oh well. Guess I will need to get it manually updated to a standard nokia firmware before I can then do updates with this.
Still, excellent post spitroast.
Thanks for the link

Stargate.
dam, no 6310i!
nice find though
It will only update to the same product code that you already have, so as you have already said, if three (or any operator) does have a newer version then the update will not happen.
Also many more handsets will be added during September.
Cool hopefully this will sort out my N70 that operates like a lump of shit.
Does anybody else find the N70 painfully slow?

if I update the firmware on my 6630 will it delete all of the apps and everything else I have on the phone ?
Odd thing is it does not check the current f/w on the 6680.
After finding out that technicaly the fw it updated to was not the lastest I ran the updater again and it just flashed it again, no msg saying it was the same fw etc etc...
So it's not that intelligent of an installer, perhaps it can be 'adapted' (ahem) to reflash from scratch? Ie get rid of branding and update it to the latest firmware that is available from Nokia (not a branded version update)
6280 not there This phone is fcuk'd again!!! I'm on my third on version 7 I believe, apparently ver. 8 is the first stable!!
Local repair shop says it cannot be flashed instore nd must be sent away for 10 days and I can't have a replacement so I'm screwed! Unless my 3 sim goes in my unlocked old 2G Nokia...
i took mine to nokia service centre in an attempt to sort out the bluetooth problem for tomtom also on 3. they said that 3 dont have an updated firmware for the n70. there is one avialable but it will void any warranty and is not supported by 3. its also classed as a chargeable repair, think it was about £30,
thanks for the post its come in handy...cheers
I'm tempted to do my 6680 but if it ain't broke don't fix it, I can't be bothered to backup all my stuff from the phone.
