All these indoor ski slopes I think look really good. But, if you've ever gone proper skiing the one thing that lets these places down is the length of the runs and the variety of slopes. Would be okay for a couple of hours I suppose.

yeah i saw the world islands on a tv show, each island is going to be inhabbited but someone native to the represnted country, probably just be millionaires using it as a holiday home tho.

Although Dubia is known for its money, the actual workers who build these amazing things are paid pennies and live in terrible conditions.

the dubai world is supposedly the only man made thing u can see from space, the great wall of china is just a myth.

on the show im sure the arab guy said he would expect Branson to buy it, but i dont think they were even for sale at that point.

lol, must of seen the same prog as me mate! It did look or should I say sound, very impressive. They have most of the "palm" island built and sold some plots. They started out at about 150k for a plot, now I think they are going for double.

I don't think its completed yet though, prob be a while yet as its a massive project.

I've just got back from Dubai and I have to say that Ski Dubai is amazing. The arabs love it and loads just go there to look at the snow through the glass walls (it's part of a massive shopping centre called The Emirates Mall).

The Palm Jumeirah is almost complete (probably about 6-9 months), but The World is about 2 years away. I read somewhere that the people selling the plots have banned loads of people from buying on them including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Don't know how true this is.

As for the workers, they get paid between �100-�200 per month to work in up to 48C heat for 12 hours, and most places have construction going on 24 hours a day. I also read that a quarter of all the cranes in the world are in Dubai, working on all the construction projects.

Is nobody campaigning to help these poor feckers getting shit working conditions. There's a lot of places in the world where for one (still unjustified) reason or another it's not easy to apply pressure/do anything about it (for example in countries where small time factory labour is done at shit rates and if they don't do it someone else will). In this case, the world is watching and it would only need one blow up in the media to put pressure on a load of mil/billionaires to set things right. Someone should f**king sort it out. The epitome of the growing rich poor gap in the world, the filthyly rich pay the flithilty poor fu(k all when they could pay more, so they can live in outrageous places that could house feed and accomodate a fuck load of them.

Still, I'd fucking love an island and I wouldn't let any dirty vagabond on it. In fact, I'd get a rifle and shoot any of them that tried. K, last bit was a joke.
