Default Firefox...to be or not to be!

    Righty ho,

I`ve finally decided to take the turn and use firefox as my browser.

    My pros so far are:
    faster
    tabbed browsing

    My cons so far are:
no bookmarks pane on the left ala IE.
can tabbed browsing enable you to open 3 homepages (in tabs) in one window?

Can these cons be corrected???? ??? ?

If so I`m a convert and I`ll be happy.

    Ta muchly

    Err..

Control/B does the bookmark bit and the "tabbed browser" extension does the rest. For that, click Tools > Extensions then "get more extensions" and find the tabbed browser extension (tabbrowser preferences)

    You could also use Opera.

Switching to opera wouldn't be any more taxing than switching to Firefox and I'm sure it does all the things you need.

I'm sure a certain admin would second that.

In my experience comparing ff to opera, opera wins for its mouse gestures feature as well as when you click a tab it auto minimises it allowing any pages you've opened from links (with the middle mouse button) to be viewed with ease.

i much prefer FF to Opera, i had to use Opera for a while, down to a problem with flash that seemed to effect FF more then any other broswer (my own fault as it was caused by some trojan i got)

While they both offer the same options and absolutely pee on IE, i just found FF more intuitive, the way the tabs work and which one was shown after you closed the current one especially. I also found that the plug ins and the download manager were more to my liking in FF.

There also appeared to be some issues with ebay and opera as it was always telling me to update my browser.

who needs standards when most sites are built for IE standards? (which means they fuck up whatever browser you are using)

I tried opera twice now, the latest version and the verion when they gave out free keys for a weekend and personally firefox shits on from many angles and heights

i personaly cant see any differences in speed, i was using Opera for the last 3 months, ive gone back to FF and feels exactly the same, apart from i can now how my world clock where i want it, my downloads bar how i want it and the controls exactly how i like and without having to go through half an hour of setting it in the options. Adding search engines seemed a hassle with Opera too. I cant view a yellow smiley face tho

Anyway, what has opera got to do with this thread, the guy asked for FF advice didnt he?
