xbox 360 voice chat not working

Hi all,

I did kind of ask this before in another thread before but it kind of went off topic!

I got a 360 from a friend, formatted the HD and setup my LIVE account. All this is fine and I can play online and chat in game.

The only thing not working is the voice chat, If i accept it loads up the channel thing, then it just wont connect. No error message or anything!!

Any ideas what can cause this? I've read up that it can be Router issues but that's ok with everything else.

Any help would be blindin'

I've got a feeling its my router setup and not the xbox, I don't want to have to "check this, unplug that, reset the xbox" from the good old tech phone guys!

Is the MS support any good then? hmmmmmmmm maybe I should of called them first

So long as they aren't based in india, your call will be quite quick, I'd imagine.

BFG: Yep - Took me 3 weeks to get 2 replacement monitors from Dell with their Indian Tech Support.

They sent one monitor to me and one to somewhere in London, then another 2 weeks to sort that out.

3 mins to give them my postcode - I mean WTF!?

Yeah thats why I wanted to try and fix it myself! I think the console is ok but maybe just a router setting I need to change or something. It's pissing me right off!!!

which router is it? Have you looked at ms website for compatible routers? Have you upgraded the firmware on the router? I also remember that for a mate of mine i had to open the port on the router to get the voice chat working. Again a little bit of research into the voice port and unlock on your router... Another way is unlock the dmz on the router for the xbox ip address unlocking the dmz is not a full time solution but it will help you find out if its a port problem. if it works with the dmz open it means a port on the router for voice chat is being blocked

Wheeeeeeeeeeey! got it working tonight. I just reset my router back to factory settings and setup the IP's again and it work (thanks Finchy).

The only setting that seemed to change was by default the UPNP was disabled. I had it enabled before so maybe that was the problem?

Anyway, working like a dream and another great feature within LIVE
