Default Digital Cordless Phone Pack Advice

I was wondering if anyone knows what the score is with packs like these:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...Telephones.htm

I'm looking to replace the phone we have at home. After changing to Homechoice and subsequently BT, we only have one telephone socket and it's in the kitchen.

Would a triple pack like the one above work on only one phone socket? In that the main unit would be plugged into the socket in the kitchen whilst the 2 secondary handsets are plugged into a power points in the livingroom and bedroom?

Or, cause there's three phones would we need three phone sockets?

Silly question I know, but I'm sure I've read the 'one socket' thing around somewhere but can't find it now plus I'd rather try and shove my own fist up my own arse than go into the Argos and ask them cause they are a complete bunch of workshy cretins!

    Cheers!

afaik, the base unit takes one plug socket and provide the signal for all the handsets.

the 1s i got just need the master plugged into the socket and the rest into a power supply. think most of them work like that.

Yup. One phone socket, many handsets, all wirelessly "linked" to the base unit.

The batteries always go on mine, bloody colour screens. And I can never find them either, plus when there's a power cut I can't phone out cos they rely on a plug socket! My mobile is always stuck behind a cushion or something so I can't find that in the dark. I'm particularly bitter about this, had a power cut all Sunday night.

yeah you need a normal run of the mill phone too to make emergency calls, in fact most cordless ones have a sticker saying that they are not for emergency use because of power cuts and the company takes no responsibliltiy for such shennigans

I've just recieved a triple / trio handset pack off a ebayer, it was a little pricey at £22 for three Panasonic handsets (inc one base) but yeah, one phone line and three mains plugs.

Intercom was my reason for purchase, as well as lazyness and wireless freedom for making call in the bathroom while taking a shit *splash* what?

I'd recommend them The more the better, 'ring ring, yeah?, you wanna get me a beer?, yeah ok, cheers'
    I'm new to this

Yeah, I have intercom on my 4 handsets too - great when you can't be arsed to get out of your seat and there's someone already in the kitchen...

Don't get Philips ones they sound tinny on the receive end, I went for a BT tripple pack and I'm pleased with them. Make sure they are GAP compatible, this means that you can use them with other GAP bases or add more GAP phones (even of different manfacturer).

    Hi
I guess you've already got your phones now themanwho.

On top of everything else everyone has said, if you're getting older phones off eb*Y make sure that they operate on a different frequency from your wireless router (if you have one) ie 2.4 Ghz. Most newer ones do operate on a diff freq.

The amount of houses I've been to who have cordless digital phones that f*ck up their wireless is incredible. Also don't have the main base unit sitting next to the router. Have them as far away as possible in the house. Oh and of course use the microfilters.

    all the best
