    Default 40" HD LCD TV £849.99

    Another offer from Aldi

    Available from 7th September. I'm guessing the twin tuners are analogue as it doesn't say, if they were digital then I'd expect them to rave about it lol.
    Seems a pretty good spec for the price though.

    This magnificent TV has a monster specification, which you would expect to pay considerably more for elsewhere. It offers the ultimate viewing experience with sensational picture and sound quality, for an exceptional price.

    Features include:
    • Huge 40" Samsung LCD panel with anti-reflective coating
    • Fully HD Ready LCD TV with HDMI interface - no loss of picture or sound
    • 1366 × 768 pixel resolution
    • Includes 2 HDMI ports
    • Contrast ratio 1200:1
    • Brightness: 500cd/m2
    • HDTV (480i, 480p, 1080i, 720p) with HDCP decoding
    • Digital audio amplifiers with 2 × 15W speakers
    • Nicam stereo
    • Teletext
    • 99 programme memory
    • 3D comb filter
    • Digital noise reduction
    • Child lock
    • Sleep timer
    • Headphone socket
    • Remote control - batteries included
    • FREE tilting wall bracket (±15°)
    • Dimensions: 1013 × 310 × 735mm (with stand) or 1010 × 125 × 690mm (without stand)
    • Weight: 25kg (with stand) or 21.3kg (without stand)
    • Scart lead and RF lead included
    • Free 3 year warranty typically worth £199.00

    Twin Tuner multiple picture choice

    Offering the ultimate in viewing versatility, you can watch two different programmes at the same time on the massive 40" screen, and you can choose to situate the screen either on a shelf, cabinet or table, or hang it picture-style on the wall with the FREE tilting wall bracket provided.

    High Definition TV - breathtaking realism

    This amazing TV is also HD Ready, which means it's already equipped to accept the biggest revolution in television since the introduction of colour. HD TV offers you stunning realism and the kind of defined picture quality that genuinely makes you feel as if you're part of the picture rather than watching it. It also offers superb digital surround sound, which effectively draws you into the action. Great for adventure movies or sport.

    Do you have to get there 2 hours before opening and queue outside for these deals, or can you just turn up at opening and you're generally fine?

    (comparison with LCD and Plasma)

    Pros for plasma

    * Slim design (Wall mountable)
    * Larger than LCD screens
    * More viewing angles than LCD screens
    * Better contrast ratio
    * Fast response time

    Cons for plasma

    * Plasma displays are fragile making them difficult to ship and install.
    * Expensive, although cheaper than LCDs per unit of size at larger sizes.
    * Older panels were subject to screen burn-in, though for modern panels this effect is caused simply by polarization of the gas particles and can be removed by leaving the screen on a 'snow' or static channel for an hour, depolarising the gas particles.
    * First 2000 hours is its brightest point. Every hour thereafter, the display gradually dims.
    * At higher elevations, usually 6000 ft or higher, they exhibit noticeable humming.

    That's pretty good, although it says nothing about the response time.

    Got two of these today. Karma given to Helpers for telling me about this http://digital-forums.com/showthread.php?t=275466.

    The telly is sweet and after having a 32" lcd robbed from under my nose a few weeks ago I'm glad I've got this.

    It's not ANY kind of a Samsung. Otherwise it would say Samsung on the box and not Tevion.

    On this occasion I find it acceptable to be posted in both sections.

    Has anyone got a sky remote code for this ?

    Grabbed one today and want to use my sky remote on it.

    A similar thing was asked over on MSE regarding the sky remote

    Try this 0125
    The Sky remote works with 0081
    and for Sky+ use 0335
    could also be worth trying 065, 696, 726

    if they fail maybe on here

    Not true, many things in the world use other makers components but just because of that doesn't make it the component makers product. In the case the tevion uses a Samsung panel, no it doesn't make it a Samsung but it's worth Tevion mentioning it as Samsung make great panels.
