Received a letter from them saying so sad to lose such a loyal (no cable round here wank*rs) customer but hope u come back some time in the future.
Well, im sitting on my hands until i get a deal, or if i wait 3 months im 135 quid better off so i can put that towards my hd/sky+ box and knock off films, so whichever way i win.
Cheers

Easy when you know how, or where to look
I'd been a Sky subscriber (full package) for around 6 years and when I came to move house they put me on that 95% off deal as I was moving into rented accomodation while I found a house to buy. They said that doing this instead of cancelling altogether would leave me open to 'special offers' when I evetually moved into my permanent house. They also said to leave the dish as they would install it for free in the new house. Well, I moved and as my house is listed I had to get a specialist to fit the dish which cost me £250, once it was all installed I phoned Sky to ask what deal they would offer me and they told me I was on a special 95% off deal already!? I explained that I had been on the deal because I couldn't actually receive Sky but this concept seemed beyond them and they said that I only had two more weeks of the deal and then I'd be back to normal prices. As I was so peed off I said I would only subscribe to the minimum package and then I wrote a letter of complaint. After a bunch of e-mails, they offered me 25% off my subscription. When I asked if this would still apply if I upgraded my package, they said no. How stupid is that? Someone then phoned me up about a month later asking if I was happy with the service etc, I told them the whole story and the guy was like "Yeah, what can you do". Unfortunately, I don't have cable in my area but if I did then I'd drop Sky in an instance. Complete tossers. BTW Jaffa, who's the girl in the pic?
My dish must have moved in the wind or something on thursday so after having a play around I couldn't get it back on.
The wife phoned and got the "its £65 for an engineer to come out" I told her to cancel but they said I had to do it.
Got on the phone and told them to cancel it, they put me through to someone else who asked me why, i said quite simply I want a free repair as I spend £500+ per year he went off and came back and said fine no problem we can fix the dish for free it will be in about 4 weeks.
I said don't bother I'll cancel, he then said I can also offer you Sky+ for £40 fitted and we can have an engineer out tuesday.
Unbelievable. If you upgrade they will come out quick, whats worse is I have tried to get Sky+ about 10 times and it always £100 + £60 fitting.
Their telephone system is the same, if you're ringing for technical support or any other query then it's all automated and often involves a long (and expensive) wait. If you're a new customer wanting to order Sky or upgrade then it seems like you always get through in record time.
I cancelled my subscription today, didn't offer me anything to stay. Been with them for about 14 years. Will wait and see what happens in the next month.
cancelled my sky sub, and they offered me nothing, had 3 calls all while i was at work telling my missus they had some special offers they wanted to discuss with me but wouldn't tell her what they were, i rung them back to be told the offers people dont take incoming calls and that if they wanted to get hold of me they would ring again. on the last day before the cancellation was due to happen i gave in rung them and got the cancellation stopped.
will give it a month or so and try again lol
I think their getting wise!.
My 30 days have passed and they have let it go by, no calls, nothing.
Ive told the missis that their letting us sweat for a week or 2 and then they will phone but im not 2 sure.
I might have to get my old echostar digibox out of the cupboard and fire up the moving dish.
Cheers

I've just cancelled. Out of principle really. I've been fancying HD but refuse to give them an extra tenner a month for a few shitty channels that aren't always HD anyway.
Told them it was because they are a money grabbing company who have no regard for their customers and that I am going to invest in a freeview box and some IPTV (NZB's to the rest of us).
Fuck em!
The only way I'm staying is if the do offer me a damn good reason to stay. Which I doubt.
So Canceling doesn't work any more
I've been doing the 'cancellation' trick for nearly two years, without fail they would offer heavy discounts. I tried last month and they offered me nothing, even talked about upgrading but again no discounts, so I cancelled.
I guess their subscription numbers are hitting targets at the minute.
yeah same here been getting half price for over a year now... yet last time was told they are wise to this now and have stopped it happening or at least instructing staff not to offer anything now...apparently the message has not been drummed in to everyone yet and now and again you may get lucky....
Worth a try i suppose.

Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz, 250GB, 4GB RAM
I only really kept sky for eurosport lol - aint switched it on for over a month. Sky + would have been handy for the F1 season tho, bought myself a digital usb tuner for the Pc instead now.
I rang last week and gave my 30 days notice to which they offered me a sky+ for £50, I declined and the cancellation is going ahead. Im just hoping they might ring with a good deal but if not Im not to bothered about cancelling.
It's the extra subs I don't wanna pay aswell tho - seems ridiculous paying them extra so I can record the channels I'm laready paying for lol - Also do you need to sign up for another year ?

will be cancelling mine next month cos I'm sick of the barstewards hassling me and threatening to cut me off because they can't see both my boxes on the phone line.
get at least 2 letters every month saying "we can't see one or other of your boxes", and go through the checks to make sure i'm not with-holding my number and pressing the button to make it talk back. Both boxes appear to work fine, so i'm fooked if i'm gonna pay the £65 call out fee they want to come and have a look at the boxes just to see if they can figure out why they intermittently can't talk to them.
tossers
I have to say, im not missing it as much as a thought i wud. i had it on full package from the beginning so around £45 a month better off and they lost a good customer 4 ever.
