the cell wasnt made for the PS3 as far as i know, it was just a next gen cpu for the use in any number of things, PCs, set top boxes, even fridges, cookers and manbots etc etc.
If IBM had hyped it up more then maybe the world would have got more excited about Sony's decision to include it in the PS3. I remember some people (probably sony) saying that they thought the cell was too powerful for a kids console, something that sony should have hung onto the idea of.

Yep, cell processor, great for computing, shite for games consoles!! roll on the PS3 launch, the delay is probably so they can fit a disguise over processor making it look like they got it right!
