I'm almost certain I'm an Alcoholic, I drink every night, and at the weekends I drink untill I'm allmost unconsious. I know it isn't good for me and it makes me a cunt when I've had too many yet I can't stop myself reaching for the next can. I think an AA meeting would be good for me but A) I've no idea how to go about finding one and B) I'm shit scared of going to it.

The hardest thing is admitting it, my mother in law suffers from alcoholism but will not admit it. It has a massive effect on the family. Good luck with the AA thing. There are also plenty of books out there to read, I picked one up in a chemist of all places.

Never in the morning, only after work. I do drink on my own but its rare that i get drunk on my own. Feel fine when I'm sober, tbh I only start drinking out of boredom, maybe I need a hobby.

Maybe you're more of a compulsive drinker, it would still be advisable to seek help, like dieting, people do better in company. Acknowledging you might have a problem is always good though.

indeed my mate used to drink a lot out of bordom then he got a gf.

your not an alcoholic then, far from it. AA can't help you at all. You just need to get a life tbh. Like you say, get a hobby.

yup i wouldnt class yourself as an addict, just bored, my ex gf used to drink every night and i was worried she was an alcy too.

i used to do the same. i drank roughly around half a bottle of spirits a night. and then more at weekends cos i went out with my mates. purely out of boredom though. tele was shit so i just used to think sod it ill start drinking. i often thought to myself as well i wonder if i could stop i think im an alcoholic. I became a member of blockbuster dvd on the net so i have a dvd to watch whenever im bored. ive also started training for the north run in oct. i still drink at the weekends with my mates but cut out mid week drinking all together. and guess what i dont NEED a drink at all in fact it doesnt even really bother me. Just get a different hobby. start the gym or something

I used to be the same mate before a got a bird.

I would drink pretty much all week, some times down the pub playing pool and putting 8 pints away, drinking when I got back to ours etc. or start off having a few bottles watching a film sometimes with me bro or mates then when the beer had run out I would find myself going through the spirits cupboard and i'm no big spirits fan! then I found me dads stash of red wine (He quit drinking a few years ago - started again but only one bottle of red on sat night and a few beers on a thursday) Red wine is ace for getting off ya tits

maybe a hobby or finding a bird to knock round with is the best way forward you don't have to be with here just someone to knock round with, cinema, eating out etc

also I found that not buying crates in helped, when you wanta drink just get the 8/6 for a fiver. If you get crates in and there chilled you just think ah f*ck it why not hey i've had a bad day and they look so nice all cold in the beer fridge.

feck me , does that mean i have a problem then?
i drink about 6 bottles of stella a night, usually start when i get home from work. I don`t throw them down my neck or anything just drink steady , but fri/sat night when i don`t have to get up for work the next day i might have 10 or so.
i think i drink because i don`t like tea or coffee or pop but i like to have a cold drink , if you know what i mean.
i don`t consider myself a piss head or anything always get up for work etc
what do you think?
