i have always used onboard ethernet and never had a problem, i dont think there would be much benefit with a pci card for gaming.
chocman
pci should in theory give slightly less overhead for the motherboard but tbh the difference will be unnoticable
thx alot guys for the info ill stay put then cheers again
If you are really serious about gaming then you could try this.

The benefit will be minimal compared to its cost
cheers m8 read up on that sounds a load of bull lol
you could use a 10mbit ethernet card and get the same throughput. I've got one in my machine handy (use the on-board 100 now) for cross over type stuff
im on *** 10mb too and compared to the 2mb service it is crap for gaming theres alot of posts on the internet from people on 10mb saying that its messed there game up ( as it did mine ).
But in answer to your question although there may be a differance between onboard and pci you wouldnt really notice it.
n*l that is
With gaming latency is the factor more so than actual bandwidth. Higher bandwidth is not always a better thing, its like your sending out bigger packets at a slower rate then smaller packets at a quicker rate.
