yeah.. get a trade.
whats the point in getting into a load of debt in university and then getting a job that pays £30 grand? go get a trade earn the same and do jobs on the side if you want some extra cash. oh and end up on a building site fecking about all day and then go home early... easy life
Oh f@ck it!

try going into house / garden maintainance. the demography of uk is changing very quickly where there are going to be more retired people than working people . those most oldies will need their house / garden looked after . a very good tradesman who deals with clients honestly will be at a primium .
so try to go into trade you enjoy the most and go make a fortune.
Avoid manufacturing and retail, both are going down the drain in this country. Same from me as above, get a trade. But really depends on your attitude, a trade will only be good if you're prepared to work.
Wish that was something drummed into me when I was your age....
If nature always takes the easiest route, what's easier...?
The creation of billions of galaxies each containing trillions of stars each with their own solar systems, some with planets that have evolved civilisations with billions of different life forms. OR The creation of just your imagination?
I have been offered an aprenteship as an electrician.
But is there any good jobs in I.T ?
There are plenty of good jobs in IT, the problem is gaining experience as most positions require at least 3 years experience. I have recently completed a degree in Network Computing and at the moment i am finding it difficult to find a graduate or junior position to build experience for myself.
I'd take the apprenticeship as a spark mate, IT is a pig of an area to get into, a mate of mine has all sorts of qualifications in IT (Web design, programming, even the maintenance/building side of it) as well as degrees and stuff, he gave up after a while and just couldn't get a job, because you need to do the job to get the experience, but as you have little/less experience, you can't get the job, and therefore can't get any more experience.

no substitute for education..bollock on and get a diploma. when this country gets to much for you, with a good ceritificate behind you will be free to go almost where you want in the world..
maybe not now but one day you will see what i mean..
Sometimes i like nasty close ups,
Sometimes I like them air brushed,
Sometimes it's a spread brown eye,
Sometimes it's girl on girl.
Sometimes a steamy letter will do it.
And not often, but sometimes I like the idea of a chick
with a horse.
If Uni is an option do it...screw the cost its the best 3 years I ever had.
If not then do something that you enjoy - Im a lazy bastard but I love computers and find working with them much more enjoyable than say bussiness or accountancy (both of which would have earned me more cash) hence its easyier to be good at it. IT jobs pay off in the end but if your a nerd like I am its gonna happen much faster than if you dont much about them now.
Personally I had plenty of jobs that had nothing to do with what I do now - got my first IT job at 24 so there plenty of time to try stuff out.
Go for the trade.
Just go into knowing that for the duration of your apprenticship, money will not be the best, but after that, you are laughing.
Or, spend 3 years at uni, then a few more getting experience and slowly begin to catch up with the wage of a spark.
As others have said, I wish the big push at school was for a trade when I was there, instead of further education that saturated the market with arseholes that got the jobs, made a shite of things and then buggered off.
G
hate to say it but with just gcses you aren't going to get a wonderfully paid job, infact you'll be lucky to start on more than min wage. Either carry on and get some other qualifications or get a trade/appreniceship. What do you enjoy/what are your interests?
I would avoid IT, there are too many home educated people playing at it making a mess of peoples systems and Im one of those that end up going in to fix the shite. Im in the service and networking side of things I do pretty much anything cabling, system installs, repairs ect. alot of the problems now are spyware related systems running slow and its mind numbingly boring doing the same thing over and over. occasionally I get somthing more interesting to do but I still get the same hourly rate (which is pretty good btw) I have been doing it since I finished my A levels, started at the bottom in a shop building PC's and selling bits for £50 a week just to start out I got another job 4 months later and thats when things got interesting. Im now self employed and have a reasonable customer base but I wouldnt if I hadnt worked for the companies in my past jobs.
If you really want to go the IT route, do the sparky aprenteship, most sparkys do network cabling as its the same job runing cables and would make you someone that is more employable in the IT industry, most of the companies Ive worked for the cableing guys are ex sparkys earning more money runing network cables. and they can put in extra power sockets in needed saves getting someone else in when doing a comms room/cabinet
id say go for trade too. electical wise..electrician\enigineer,ect or plumber\gas fitter? well paid jobs, if you wanna? and have the aptitude for it.
you will never be out of work if u learn your stuff thats for sure.
also you can still do I.T stuff in your spare time to build on what you may already know?
The problem with IT these days is that there are far too many young people who see it as an easy job/big salary. and out of those, with you only having a handful of GSCE's, I'd bet 80-90% of those job seekers are way more qualified than you. I'd opt for the aprenticeship myself m8, you'll never be out of work, and as said previously, it can be a good way to get into the IT industry.
As for your original qn, what good well paid jobs are there with those qualifications.......none. Its all about putting the work in, and starting with the shit wage. If you're good enough and hard working enough, the cash will come sooner or later.
be carefull if you choose a trade..
i was told that there is a massive shortage of gas fitters, and you can earn £1000 a week..utter shite.
you are gonna need to be in the trade for 10yrs to get that, the shortage they talk of is on piss paid contracts that companys have with councils and housing groups.
to get to be a kick ass installer and earn big loot is a very long process, and no fcuker is gonna touch you until you have 2-5 years experience, experience you must get as a low paid worker..unless you know a fitter already in the game..i know newly qualifyed corgi guys on £250pw on wank shiftwork contracts because no one will touch them without 2-5yrs..

As said above, IT is very difficult to get into. Welsh qualification isn't going to be much use to you other than maybe local tourism etc..
I would head of to college or Uni. Just for the experience alone.
you need welsh to become a copper in wales
