If you are going to reject the offer, you will need to supply them with documentation to support an increase.

Most insurance companies these days will make offers on vehicle based on market values, if the vehicle was recovered reports from the engineers on the condition of the vehicle before it was stolen.

To be honest it is not in the insurance companies interest to make an offer that is well under the market value just to save a few quid, their are to may regulating bodies these days watching over them.

By refusing the first offer may cause you some inconvience in getting some additional information, but once an offer is made the insurers can't then try to reduce the amount.

A cars value has nowt to do what you paid for it. However, I would say a good guideline is to check out parkers used car valuation, to see how much they value it at.

.. don't do what my former work colleague did.. tried to mitigate to a higher value by querying the additional value of 'those special 17" alloys I fitted' and 'specialised suspension' & 'new fog lamps' - all previously undeclared to the insurers

Also finding ads for similar cars at prices you were aiming for I've been told helps. Now, you can't possible stop the whole internet from posting ads for similar tigras varying from £1800 - £2500 can you
