Default kevin black well leeds manager is sacked

kevin blackwell has been sacked as leeds manager

Leeds have announced they have sacked Kevin Blackwell.

The Whites are currently second from bottom of the Championship with just two wins and a draw from eight games and have scored only four league goals in the process.

A statement from the club read: "The board of Leeds United have today terminated the contract of manager Kevin Blackwell. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Kevin for the work he has put in over the past three-and-a-half years, the past two and a half of which were as manager.

"No further comment will be made at this time."

Should never have been appointed in the first place

    Curbishley/Worthington to take over?

I still think Curbishley will hold out for a top half premiership club. He should do, he's earnt one.

why hold out for another twelve years of mid table maddness in the prem when he can manage leeds and gain a promotion title
hes already been quoted as saying he would have no probs going to the championship to manage a club the size of leeds

Good to see Dave Jones is not on that list. It would seem that even the bookies now realise that he isn't going anywhere (except perhaps the premiership if we don't get the go ahead on our new stadium) even if half the chairmans in the championship haven't cottoned on to that yet.

Just depends how Leeds look at it. Fuck knows why they went for Blackwell in the first place but will they now go for youthful exuberance and promise in someone like Steve Tilson or Martin Allen (what the fuck is someone of his quality doing at MK Dons?) or will they go for a big name ex-player (Wise/Robson etc.) or for someone older with a track record like Ranieri/Hoddle/Curbishley. I reckon Tilson or Allen should be the way forward. I like Ranieri a great deal but that would be a huge mistake.

I just think that were a team with the resources of say Man City for instance to come in for him he'd fancy that he could take them to the next stage. He could only do so much with limited funds at Charlton.....

.....but fair play, I wasn't aware that he'd said that so he's obviously going to be favourite.

Pity really, I don't fancy us to enjoy our seasonal 6 points anymore from your lot if Curbs takes up residence at Elland Road.

Does it really matter who takes over, with the squad they have they are at best a mid table side. They have no money to strengthen?

To be honest I think they've forecast that they'll be pretty much debt free by next year and a good new manager will mean that their gates will go back up. If they consolidate this year they'll probably be in a good position to push next season even if the parachute payments will have stopped.

Ahh, i thought their debt was a lot bigger than that. Maybe with someone decent on board (if there is such a fellow available) they could put themselves in a position for next season.

I think Blackwell was the cheapest option and he kept us moving, allbeit it sideways rather than upwards. He has proved time and time again that he isnt up to the job with the majority of his signings and tactics. He should have gone after the play off final loss to Watford.
