Default Who should start up front for England next week?

Just wondering who you all think should start for England next week. I've always been a fan of playing the form players, so for me this means leaving out Rooney, no matter how hard it is for me to say that! Defoe hasn't done anything so far this season, which leaves me with Crouch and Johnson. Johnson is definitely the form man and really deserves a start, and Crouch - well, no matter how crap he looks for Liverpool, there's just something about the guy in an England shirt, and I just don't see how he can be left out.

I've voted Crouch and Rooney purely cos I'd rather Johnson saves his best for Everton

Nice to see you hedge your bets with your choices in the poll.

I've gone for Johnson and Rooney the bs deserves his chance and although i wouldn't pick Rooney on form i think mcclaren will pick him.

I went for Defoe and Johnson. I know Rooney and Crouch are better, but I don't see them playing well together, they're too diffrent. The obvious ploy is to get the ball over the top for Crouch whereas Rooney is more direct. There's also the added incentive for Johnson and Defoe to show how much they want the game. They'll never be first choicers if t'other two are on fire for England. Saying tat of course, Crouch and Rooney together also means that we have many options for attacks.

Crouch and johnson. Johnson is in a zone at the mo, and crouch can do no wrong - not sure why rafa doesnt start him every game - bloody tinkerer! im a big rooney fan, but if he isnt performing, he shouldnt start. He is capable of moments of brilliance but isnt consistent - hopefully he will only be bought on if needed. Plus a bit of bench time may do his attitude and temperment some good.

    Crouch and Johnson

Rooney seems to have turned into an Emile Heskey type striker i.e. he plays up front but doesn't score and as for Defoe anybody who struggles to get into the first team at their club shouldn't really be considered/

This has now changed. Johnson is out with a buggered hamstring, Darren Bent is his replacement.

Is he? Well that's Rooney and Crouch in the team then. Can't see McLaren choosing Defoe or Bent over Rooney.

he he. Crouch has to start, Rooney along side. Rooney behind though, not up front. Crouch would thrive on that.
