Ah, sendit had it listed as 11 Nov before so i guess it looks like a Dec release.

Rumor has it that M$ will release a patch to enable 1080p when this is released.

For the sake of �130 notes I think I'll grab this (after reviews of course). I can't see these selling out on launch.

I am writing regarding the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive (Xbox 360), that you
have
pre-ordered with us here at sendit.com.

Sadly, it has become apparent that our stock allocation will not be
enough
to fulfill all pre-orders for launch day (1st December). This is due to
a
European shortage of the product. We will be receiving further
allocations
from Microsoft before Christmas, so those who placed their orders
earliest
will be best placed to receive this stock. However, Microsoft have
informed us that the product will not be freely available until next
year.

It should be stressed that we are doing all we can to fulfill the
product
before Christmas, but we wanted you to be aware that this may not now
happen. We are sorry for any disappointment caused, but would advise
that
(from previous experience with similar products) the best thing is to
stay
in the queue unless you have managed to obtain the item elsewhere. We
will
keep you informed of any developments with stock availability before
and
after launch day. Please note that stocks will be strictly one per
customer, if you have ordered more than one the extra units will be
cancelled. You can of course reorder but it will not be fulfilled until
next year.

It is important to note that we will take no payment from you until
just
before the goods ship. You can cancel at any point until your order
status changes to "being packed" (when your order is packed for
shipment)
but do be aware that if you cancel and reorder, you would go to the
back
of the queue.
