Default Installing XP on a laptop with 32MB Ram

Is this at all possible ? If so can someone tell me how !!! I know you can install it on a laptop with 64mb ram and then take 32mb out and it will work, but is there a workaround to install with just 32MB ram ? It's for a lighting controller in a club so I'm not bothered about speed/performance once the thing is running.... This being my last resort as I can't get hold of a working version of Windows 98SE anywhere !!

    Cheers

I remember building a pc for an old mate out of junk lying around - he didn't know anything about pc's. I gave him a pentium either 166 or 200 non mmx with it was either 16 or 32Mb ram and 2x 1Gb HDD's. I installed win 98 or me on it. I was shocked when I went round and he had got xp running on it!

I asked him how, and he told me he just put the cd in, kept clicking next and it worked. I witnessed this myself when I re-installed it a few weeks later.

    Here is what MS say:
Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Professional
    • PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

    • 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

    • 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*

    • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

    • CD-ROM or DVD drive

    • Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
It might work with 32mb, but is it really worth it when 98 would run so much faster?

On that pc I put toghether for my mate, all he did was use winamp, and it seemed fine for it. If it was loaded up with anti virus, office, etc probably wouldn't have done so well though.

it probably will install, but i would disable as many services as possible, you would be surprised how many are of no use whatsoever, google for black viper services and disable what you can, performance should improve significantly. cya.
