it has been reported that paul scholes has twice turned down the chance to return to the england team in recent weeks should he return ?
his reasons for leaving the england fold was to spend more time with his family which is fair enough but did he grow frustrated as in his last few games sven played out of position on the left ?

Watching paul scholes for man utd he always look like he cant last 90 minutes anymore and runs out of steam now, but certainly more creative than lampard and gerrard who to me are the workhorses of the team without the guile and skill of scholes but i think he's finished at international level.

His last few performances weren't at all great, very Lampardesque...think he did the right thing and quit at the right time

Much as I love Paul Scholes I think he was right to go out when he did, otherwise he would just face time on the bench with Gerrard and Lampard, or he'd be stuck on the left where he can't play his natural game.
Plus of course its better for United too.

he played 65 times for his country now he doesnt wanna play simple as that and who can blame him witht he ammount of media pressure he gets. The thing with Scholes is he has never been one for being in the media he still lives in Oldham where he has lived his whole life he still goes out to the pub with his mates etc so he obviously cant be arsed with the hassle any more.

Why the fuck would he want to? I'd put him in my team ahead of Frank Lampard any day but the guy made a decision and he's stuck with it. Paul Scholes has to be the most underrated midfielder in world football over the last decade. His reading of the game, positioning and passing should have had him mentioned in the same breath as Nedved or Totti amongst others. I believe it's due to his unswerving and unquestionable loyalty to Manchester United, his professionalism and his obvious disdain for the trappings of fame and celebrity that are responsible for that and you can't help but respect him for it. He's also had to overcome his ginger impediment. A true premiership great.

When I think of Cashley Cole, Fat Frank Lampost, Beckham, Gerrard and Joe Cole with their fucking wags and their shitty, sanitized red top serialized biographies I just can't imagine Paul Scholes in that company. It makes me like the bloke even more. I bet he earns about £400 a week as well and takes the bus to work.

true he is still a normal bloke he stilll attends as many oldham games as he possibly can but i think the most interesting thing about him in the modern football world is he doesnt have an agent !

Paul Scholes was Quality but cos he has a good game against Fulham and Celtic LOL, lets panic and get him back in for england where in 2 years he'll be 34 and even more past it.

anyway scholes is too old to come back at that level, simple as. as said previously he retired at the right time with the problems he has had and nobody in this country should have a bad word against him. hes been an honest player for united and given his all everytime he slipped on the england shirt

Yeah i think he's a testement to old school footyplayers.... hard tackling player with great vision of the game. Roy Keane once said scholes has a nasty edge to his game, which he liked!

He scored last time we played Croatia in euro2004! A sweet header if i recall correctly... Maybe we do need him tonight to do the same again! But he's done the right thing to tell mclaren and his big headed loosers to fuck off every time!
