Handy pricing information for Curry's/Dixons/PC World....
If a price ends in "9" (e.g. £299.99)...
This is a normal priced item and should have normal stock (and will be re stocked if supplies run out)
If a price ends in "8" (e.g. £299.98)...
The last 8 indicates to staff that this is end of line stock. If it is out of stock it is unlikely it will be ever restocked. If not in stock online, your best chance is to ring around stores to find one in the hope that one is left.
If a price ends in "7" (e.g. £299.97)...
The last 7 indicates to staff that this is a clearance item. Again, if it is out of stock it will not be restocked.
However, this item may be a wild goose chase due to the automatic reduction system they use on clearance items...
Once the item is classified as "clearance" it is placed on a schedule of automatic reductions. The item will keep on getting automatically reduced. (all the way to 7p eventually). From 299.97 it will then be reduced to something like 249.97, then 199.97, then 149.97. Somewhere along the line eagle eyed shoppers will notice a bargain and snap them up.
However, even if the item is completely sold out the system keeps going... 99.97, 79.97, 69.96, 49.97 and so on all the way to 7p.
Basically if you find an item with a price ending in "7" online (and it is very cheap) you are very unlikely to find one in stock anywhere.
