Im getting a PS3 sent from canada

I have a m8 in canada who says he will try and get me a ps3 on lauch by preordering and picking it up for me. Whats the best way to ship it back any ideas, i was thinking fedex.

try and find out the weight of the machine, im sure its been mentioned before.

As far as i know they arnt accepting preorders at all and theres supposedly 3-10 machines per store, so your mate will have to get out the sleeping bag if he is going to get you one.

Didn't the court case against Lik-Sang prevent any imports of PS3 ? - or was it just LikSang it applied to?

Either way I'd be wary of customs - have a good think about what you declare it as on the shipping forms

i dont think the OP is still on about importing one just yet, so this is all rather pointless. The liksang/sony thing was just between them, although sony do now claim that importing a PS3 is illegal, which is complete bullshit.

If you were having one sent over via a friend, as this thread originally said theres nothing sony would be able to do about it, although they may be able to limit its usefulness online.

You can pre-order the PS3 in Canada, but due to the high volume demand of the scheme, many have now closed their pre-order programs.

Importation of the Console IS illegal, but only becomes a problem, if you are caught...

If you happened to receive the console in a re-packaged state and described as a computer accessory with a fault on board, IE: a return.......not only would there be NO duty to pay, it would usually go with the pre-cleared cargo......

The best carrier from both the US and Canada for shipping this kind of device, is FedEx, due to the way their UK Import Hub is set up.....

Always pay the little extra for the fastest service possible offered by FedEx.....there is a 2 fold reason for this, many times, they don't meet the guaranteed deadline, thereby facilitating a shipping charge refund and it is 'fast tracked' through the Customs Cargo System....
