newshosting have finally emailed me about sharing my account

Looks like I wont be able to share my account any longer, they sent me this email:

Hello,

We have found that your account (bubsqueek, customer id 72725) is currently being used by multiple IP addresses simultaneously.

This is considered abuse of the system and if it is not corrected the account may be closed.

If you believe this to be an error please reply to this e-mail message with any information that may be relevant.

Same here m8...They had been sending emails to my gmail account for the last 2 weeks pointing out the two connections and if I continued then
my account would be terminated.

Depsite a few warnings i still let my m8 use it for the odd hour or so..they havnt picked up on that yet.

I got the very same email today. fuckers... I have an 8mb connection at work on a standalone machine which I VN from home, which only has a 512k connection due to location. I queue up what I want at work and leave it, but on the odd occassion I have grabbed a few T.V episodes at home as it would be inconvenient for me to goto work to get them, say after hours or at the weekend.

I mailed them back explaining this, in a round a bout kind of way... Looks like I may have to sub to giganews soon ;/

They just state I am only allowed a to use single I.P... what I already knew... o well!

Giganews allows up to 10 concurrent connections to our servers with all current accounts. There are no restrictions on the locations from which you connect, but you may not connect from multiple IP addresses at the same time. We would also like to remind you that our accounts are intended as single user accounts.

i had my account at easynews locked a few years back cos i was sharing it. I had to unlock it in a process which was geared to reminding me the acct was only for single use

just a thought... they are only aware of times when you are sharing. As my home ip is not static and my work ip is I'll stick a block on the times I download at work to leave a window open at home to grab files.

Maybe a little risky now as they are aware of my activity but technically I wont be sharing, simply using my account on another computer that I own. If they bring this up again or ban me I'll just get a new account.

I cant see there being a problem if you use one IP at a time, its when you use them at the same time that matters to them. I was going halves with my mate for my Newshosing account so theres me buggered. I also downloaded at work and at home at the same time, so cant do that either

For 8 quid a month its hardly worth sharing the account.

I share my account with my m8 but still pay for it myself..the only reason
I let him share is due to the fact he is too paranoid to use his own credit card and be linked to anything to do with warez.
