mini receipt printer

was thinking of getting myself one of these, a lot of them seem to connect to your pc but none of them mention any software.

or if anybody knows of a small standalone one which will do the job.

i assume they would just have a printer driver? at work ours just plug into the pararell port like a normal printer. they also control the till drawer, as in the till drawer connects to the printer and there must be some special character that gets printed when it needs to open.

i assume you dont have a till drawer and dont need that functionality but as far as i know, they are quite expensive. probably due to how few people need them. they also tend to be thermal printers too, as in the ink is in the paper (take a tesco receipt or something and scratch it with the wrong end of a pen, it will mark. thats along the lines of how the printer works, so you never need new ink in them)

if we happen to have any IT callouts at work over the next few days i'll have some casual conversation with the guy and see what i can find out about them but i cant see it happening because they are also very reliable
