Default A blotch on my credit report

I signed up to Experian to check out my credit score, as I had no idea what it might be.

Got the report, and it's squeaky clean, apart from one single mark against me by Littlewoods, saying that I missed 3 payments about 5 years ago.

Now that would normally be fine, but what annoys me is that it was their fault! They screwed up, and said that I owed them money that I didn't. The issue itself was sorted out, and I didn't pay anything, but a blotch remains against my name.

Is there anyway to get it removed? I'm thinking probably not? Or is it not that big a deal?

What's most irritating is that it was only over about £20....

Did you ever get a letter from littlewoods admitting their mistake?

They only people who can correct a credit file are the company that holds the record.

You could put a NOC (notice of correction) on there but to be honest 3 missed payments 5 years ago wont make any difference what so ever! (unless they defaulted you)

Send a letter to littlewoods and cc it to experian, stating the case, provide as much info as possible or want to give, don't be rude, just ask them politely to have it removed. Once littlewoods confirm it to experian it will get removed.

I had a similar case with orange where I closed an account, but they didn't so it was still registred at an old address where someone had committed fraud, so the mark went on my report. I just wrote to them explaining that it wasn't me, orange hadn't closed my account, and sent the same letter to orange. It was sorted not too long after.
