That site was really slow this morning but I was searching for something else.
Found this though - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/710 and it works a treat. Just pick what you don't want and Bobs yer uncle.

Anyone else noticed this version hogs the CPU when loading a webpage?
I'm running it on a celeron 2.4ghz so don't expect much performance but taking 80-95% of my cpu when a page loads is a bit much.
I'm too much of a cheapskate to upgrade my PC so back to 1.5 I think.

I have stolen money from a DF member and a member of Disqworld. All my personal details including families details are on file and will be made public to everyone if I do not refund the money I stole or send the goods I promised. My name will be ravaged across the net and the consequences will be severe if I do not sort this fucking mess out.
what additional benefits is it oferring mate.

Have a look at some tweaks available for FF2

The above needs you to type "about:config" in the address bar, then type "prefetch" into the filter, then double-click the line showing "true" and change it to false.Fetch only what you click
Firefox has this wacky little feature that downloads pages from links it thinks you may click on pages you view, like the top result on a page of Google results. This means you use up bandwidth and CPU cycles and store history for web pages you may not have ever viewed. Creepy, eh? To stop that madness, set the network.prefetch-next key to false.
* Key: network.prefetch-next
* Modified Value: false
