    Default Wireless internet question ?

I have connected to a network on my laptop but am unable to access the internet it just gives me the page cannot be displayed page.

I have been able to get connected once for 5 mins or so , is it because i am too far away from the router ?

Is it possible to look into other computers on the network ?

    Cheers for any help ?

to access other computers you will have to allow file sharing - right click a folder you want to share and there is a 'sharing' tab.

how do you know the laptop is connected to the network ? can you ping the router , how far are from the router , if its a laptop move it nearer to the router if you think its a distance issue , what router and wireless gear are you using ?
    Cheers

Check your dns ip, it should be set to your router's ip address. As said, can you ping either your gateway or a public ip?? Goto start>run>cmd hit return, type ipconfig hit return and it should list a ip address in the same range as your router, a subnet which will probably be 255.255.255.0 and the dns server ip which should be your router/gateway ip address

could be a bad connection to the wireless router. as stated by the other person what IP address is your laptop

also can you go to certain web sites but no to others - or does this effect every website.. try 5 common web sites and see if they fail on all them (e.g BBC, Yahoo, IBM, Microsoft, MSN, CNN etc)
