    Photos Stacked macro

I've been meaning to try this technique for a while now and after finding a suitable subject today I finally got around to it. Using a program called Helicon Focus I stacked together 18 separate frames, all at a slightly different focus point, to give a greater depth of field than you'd usually get even using very small apertures.

    That Sir is Awesome.
Not only an incredible shot but superb lighting.
This must have taken not only a lot of time to do but also the thought and preparation behind it.

Impressed and envious ! ..... GedR

Absolutely outstanding that mate, really terrific! Totally gobsmacked by how much detail you've managed to capture in there.

WHat lens did you use for the shots?

was the subject frozen/dead? must be hard getting the images to align? how many images did u take to get them 16 to line up properly?

I used my trusty Sigma 105mm Macro and 3 extension tubes.

It was dead. I use a micro positioning plate so there's hardly any movement of the subject between frames, and any minor misalignment is taken care of by the software. After shooting a few test shots to get the lighting set correctly I only shot the 18 frames used for the final image, each frame being around 0.5mm closer to the subject than the previous one.
