i think when you change batteries it has to be reassigned to the car, to make them both compatable again.

and with reference to the air bag im pretty sure thats not a failure.
Sure somebody with tell me if im incorrect

Unless they've recently changed it, airbags isn't a failure. Need to go to dealer/someone with compatible diagnostic equipment to get it sorted.

    Dunno about the key issue.

If you reset your ECU it should clear the Airbag problem. Not sure on how to do it in an old civic though. Google might know.

If the light comes back on after resetting the ECU then there's probably actually something wrong with the airbag.

Common Fault Air Bag Squib (about £300 to replace), it will fail the new MOT test if the light is on....... If you lift the passenger footwell carpet there should be a glass bulb which if you look through you will see the ECU and an LED, turn the car on to IGN 2 and look through the glass, count the flashes and frequency, let me know and I'll tell ya what the fault is.

To the best of my knowledge you cannot re-sync your remote yourself - you need specialist equipment to do so.

As for the airbag light on. Look in the passenger fooetwell. You will see 2 pin multiplugs - you will probably need to look behind the glovebox, under the carpet, or behind the centre console. You will need to ascertain which one is the airbag one and bridge the 2 pins, switch the ignition on and count the flashes of the warning lamp. It flashes a long flash for the tens and short flash for the units. EG -.. ---------.. = 12, 92.

If arent sure which one is the airbag one post a pic and I will point you in the right direction. I think from memory its green though.

To erase the fault codes (and turn the light out) you must first read the codes and rectify the fault. Then you need to find the erase plug. This looks similar to the first plug but is on the drivers side. Bridge the 2 pins and switch the ignition on. The lamp will come on for about 5 secs and then go out. Once the lamp has gone out remove the bridge. The light will come on again so replace the bridge until the light goes out again - now remove the bridge and the light should flash twice to idicate fault erasing was successful.

    Hope this helps.

Oh no, you dont need to bridge it with a lamp, just a piece of wire then count the flashes of the airbag light on the dash.

If you have the right plug it should have only 2 pins. Bridge them to each other. If in doubt post a pic and I will point you in the right direction.

Here is a picture of the connector to the SRS unit from the passenger side. This unit is located behind the centre console and this is what i see.

No, Not the srs ECU connecter, there should be a 2 pin multiplug floating around not connected to anything - infact there should be 3 - 2 pin multilugs.
