    Default Under Floor Heating anyone?

    All,

I will be shorlty moving to a new gaff. In the front room there are two radiators, we are looking at removing these and adding underfloor heating.
    So my questions....

It is a combi boiler system, new. What I am looking to do is remove both radiators and simply add under floor heating and connect where the radiators are currently in place.

Will this work? Is it as simple as it sounds?

The intention is to add real wood flooring over the top once done. Thanks in advance guys.

You do know that underfloor heating needs to be bedded in a solid floor unless you looking at electric heating don't you?

Normally with underfloor heating you have junction boxes fed by your flow and return in each zone (room) which you will need to have unless one coil will do your room.
These junction boxes are connected to a manifold which also supplys different zones in the house, you would also have a seperate themostat for each zone.
You can do it the way you are suggesting but it is not the recommended way to install it and you will only be able to control the temperature of your room via your central heating 'stat.

Also check with the manufactorers instructions that the underfloor heating coils can withstand the pressure in your heating system when it is on.

I have electric underfloor heating which was designed and fitted when the place was built in the 60's. It sounds like a great idea but it's only really effective if you have hard flooring, it takes forever to get through carpet and doesn't really work. you'll find yourself buying oil filled radiators etc to get some quick heat, better to find radiators you can live with. If it's just one room you need to pay attention to previous comments about pressure etc.
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

I had underfloor heating in a flat with concrete floors, it was on an economy 7 thingy, but overall very impressed with it.

But if you come in cold, takes ages to warm up though.

They use relatively little electricity, and provide a more uniform heat than radiators.Running off a timed thermostat, you kinda leave it to do its own thing.
The latest "smart" stats learn how long it takes to heat the room and switch on earlier/later to allow optimum room temperature.
