Surround Sound on 360

I've just got a 360 and I want to get a cheap surround sound system to use with it. If I get one of those cheap home cinema speaker kits from Argos or somewhere, will that do the trick, or will I need a dedicated 5.1 decoder + speakers?

You will need an amp that is capable of decoding 5.1 and will take an optical toslink cable input....plus the speakers. Anything classed as a home cinema system will do the trick

Yeah, I saw that. Trouble is, I was hoping I could get a whole kit for £100! I'll obviously have to adjust my expectations - or increase my budget

Im looking at a 5.1 setup but hoping to spend around 180-200. thought that amp was a bargain. The all in one kits dont seem all that great.

I have the above system. Its ok but nothing special, perfect for the bedroom.

Well I'm looking for a system for the front room, but as long as it sounds better than the speakers built into the TV, I think it'll do the job

They've got it on EmpireDirect for £234.99 - quite a lot more than I was planning on paying, but that's just SO tempting!

get the logitech 5100 or something like that cant remember off the top of my head. all in 5.1 system - the bass box is huge and the sound is mind blowing. ive only put it up to half way on the volume and its THUMPING. you can change each speaker / bass / has 2 optical, 1 coax connection / remote etc... Ebuyer had it for 150'ish, might be cheaper now

Thanks for the tip. Did a search for logitech on eBay and came across this setup - a bit more expensive than the system you mentioned, but wireless rear speakers! Nice

If anyone is interested I do have a Pile of 5.1 speakers (SPEAKERS ONLY - No amp) from an creative labs Inspire 5700 set. These are 5 great quality sats and a big ass sub in mint cond.

I also have a load of optical cables (new)

Only really ideal if you have amp and just need some speakers.

All going cheap.

I have put them on BST before but still got loads left.

Just to let you guys know... i'm now setup with my new Samsung LCD and the Mustek surround system from pixmania and I couldnt be happier!
Sounds the business when playing GOW and also streaming HD movies from media center with 5.1 surround!

Comes reccomended from me!
