Default how to uninstall Norton ?

Hi guys, bit of a problem.

I have Norton Internet Security 2006 on my laptop, but I cant seem to remove it

Just keeps saying fatal error when I try and uninstall. I need rid of it, as I cant install the full version of Macafee till that goes. I've deleted some of the files from the Norton folder manually, so I cant even stick with Norton now. Any way I can force this program to delete?

    cheers!

Format lappy and re-install windoze m8 - will be faster and easier in the long run.

I had the same prob with my mum's laptop - new from pcworld, with the usual pre-installed crap - after 3 months demo of Norton ran out she uninstalled it - it removed all sorts of extra drivers etc and left her unable to use the network port, unable to remove/re-install the drivers for it etc. A quick look on google revealed it's a very common problem - so much so that Norton created a special removal tool - but it doesn't work either.

in safe mode delete all the norton/symantec files, open up regedit and look through for hkey_local_machine and then software and delete any references to norton and or symantec that you find in there.

They put some amount of junk software on new pc's, its taking ages to clear it all!
